CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Chattanooga Lookouts fell short to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, 9-3, opening night of the six-game series in a rain-shortened game at AT&T Field. 

The Blue Wahoos pounded out six hits while earning seven runs in the first while the Lookouts put up one run by Jose Barrero off of Chuckie Robinson’s single, giving Pensacola a 7-1 lead over Chattanooga. 

Pensacola added two more runs in the second while the Lookouts added one. Barrero’s RBI single, scored Leonardo Rivas cutting the Blue Wahoos lead 9-2.

Chattanooga added one more run in the sixth by Lorenzo Cedrola off of Mariel Bautista’s line drive to center field.

The Blue Wahoos pitcher in relief, Zach Wolf, shut down the Lookouts after Bautista’s RBI base hit before the game was called in the top of the eight due to rain, making the final score 9-3.

Brandon Leibrandt (1-3) earned the win for Pensacola. Leibrandt tossed 5.1 innings, allowing nine hits and three earned runs while striking out four. 

Matt Pidich absorbed the loss for the Lookouts. Pidich gave up six hits and allowed seven earned runs.
