CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Chattanooga Lookouts scored a season-high of 16 runs while pounding out 20 hits in the 16-3 victory over the Pensacola Blue Wahoos.
Chattanooga started off strong in the first with Jose Barrero’s RBI single, driving in Braxton Lee and Yoel Yanqui’s two run homer, scoring Barrero, improving the Lookouts lead 3-1.
In the seventh, the Lookouts used five singles and two wild pitches to push five runs across the plate, improving Chattanooga’s lead 8-1.
The bats stayed alive in the eight inning as the Lookouts brought about a season-high of eight runs in one inning, putting the score at 16-1.
The Blue Wahoos added two runs in the ninth cutting Chattanooga’s lead, 16-3.
Alecis Diaz (2-1) earned the win in tonight’s game. Diaz tossed two innings, not allowing any hits or any earned runs, while striking out three.
Jeff Lindgren (2-3) absorbed the loss for Pensacola. Lindgren pitched five innings allowing eight hits and three earned runs while striking out three.
Barero led the Lookouts, going 4-for-5 from the plate and earning four RBIs. Yanqui slammed his fifth homer of the 2021 season and drove in three RBIs.
The Lookouts and Blue Wahoos are back in the diamond tomorrow for game three of the six-game series. First pitch is slated for 7:15 p.m. Gates open at 6:15 p.m. Tomorrow is Thirsty Thursday presented by RJ Young.
